1.
a. Alyssa schukar
b. Stories
c. Not feeling love or pain in pictures, not enough variety, and not enough strong symbols
d. The picture of the guy sweeping and the girl who fell over the hurdles
e. My overall impression was that the photos were alright, but not amazing. I liked the photo of the girl falling during her roller derby competition. I didn't really like the photo of the girl and boy sitting on the bed because it looked really posed.
a. Travis Haughton
b. Stories
c. The picture with the girl's back in the frame looks off putting, they don't enjoy pictures of signs, and they said that face blocking hurts a picture
d. Picture of the guy walking up the stairs has nice lighting, and they liked the levels in the gymnastics photo
e. My overall impression was that the photos were pretty good and that the judges were being pretty harsh on the comments. I liked majority of the photos, there was none that I hated.
a. Jordan Murph
b. Sports
c. Didn’t really enjoy the shadowy baseball photo, felt that the photo of the wave was stupid and pointless, and they didn’t enjoy the composition of the guy sleeping.
d. They thought that the photo of the girl playing volleyball was a solid sports picture, and they said that the guy underwater with the bubbles is good as well.
e. My overall impression was that the majority of the photos had amazing composition and were super creative. I liked the volleyball and baseball photos, but I wasn't impressed with the random ones of guys that had nothing to do with sports.
2.
a. The judges said that the first picture had good color composition, the swimming picture was good, the picture with the bubbles was creative, and overall they thought the photographer captured the moments well.
b. I believe that the strengths are the photographers creativity and variety in composition. The only weakness he had in my opinion was not getting a volleyball in focus.
3A. They went back through every portfolio and looked at them in small frames, canceling out photographers as they go by noticing bad pictures. Once they noticed that Dustin had lots of diversity and no bad pictures, they decided to pick him as the winner.
PART 2
1. In the picture of the goose hitting the track girl of part 6, the judge said that it was really good stuff and it was captured perfectly at the moment. I completely agree with him on this because I think the photo is absolutely great.
2. In the first picture of part 1, the judge stated that the photo isn't aesthetically wonderful and it's not dynamic. I disagree because I believe it does look beautiful aesthetically and the motion shown in it DOES make it look dynamic.
